The Magic of Mushrooms

Mushrooms are magical plant foods, many studies have confirmed that its rich nutrients can effectively contribute to immune system function and help the body strengthen capacity for the prevention and treatment of disease. Recognized by its extraordinary effect not just for the global, more in China and Japan and widely together with clinical chemotherapy to treat cancer. Mushrooms are so amazing, due to its main bioactive polysaccharides. 

Polysaccharides from different kinds of mushrooms contain a variety of ingredients, each play has different effects on the immune system and impacts 

Clinical trials have also shown that use many kinds of mushrooms than a single species can achieve greater results. The key of effectiveness of polysaccharides are highly depends on its amount of usage and matching, only the appropriate dose and proportion able to produce the best results. 

Concentration extraction of polysaccharides are way more effective than mushroom which has been ground into powder. 

ABM mushrooms 

Agaricus Blazel Murill (ABM) Mushroom, also known as God's Mushroom, Sun Mushroom and Princess Mushroom, are found in Sao Paolo Brazil. It was discovered 40 years ago by a Japanese immigrant, Furumoto, who lived in Brazil, noticed that the local people had uncommonly good health and experienced little geriatric disease or cancer. And ABM mushroom was part of their daily diet.

Researchers has discovered that ABM mushroom is rich in both polysaccharides, Beta-1, 3-D-glucan and Beta-1, 6 D-glucan. These two polysaccharides restore and support the body's immune system by stimulating the production of cancer-fighting lymphocyte T-cells, helper T-cells, interferon and interleukin. As a powerful antiviral agent, it can prevent viruses and harmful agents from entering delicate tissue.

In 1995, Dr Mandooh Ghuneum, Ph.D. at King Drew Medical Center of UCLA, found that the ABM mushroom increases the total number of immune cells throughout the body. Furthermore, he discovered that this mushroom not only increase the number of natural killer (NK) cells, but also makes each individual NK cell more powerful (38-49 fold increase over control).

Coriolus Versicolor 

Being the world's top selling, all natural treatment for cancer today, Coriolus Versicolor contains two types of polysaccharides, PSK and PSP. Both polysaccharides has strong anti-viral and anti-tumor effects, and has been proven to help in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, gastric cancer and colorectal cancer. When PSK combined with chemotherapy, it can enhance the effectiveness of the drug, PSK treatment of chronic diseases is one of the safest and most effective substance. 

Kenneth Bock, MD, is the medical director over two clinics in New York City. He prescribes PSK for patients with cancer or viral infection and has specifically performed studies on the effects of PSK on natural killer (NK) cell activity. Dr Bock has give PSK to patients with low blood readings and after several month, retested and found the results were very satisfactory for many of these patients.

Maitake mushrooms 

Dr Hiroaki Nanba, of the Pharmaceutical University at Kobe, Japan, found that Maitake is rich in beta-glucan, phospholipids and other polysaccharides, which are powerful immune Launcher. Maitake mushroom is the most potent immunostimulant of all mushrooms and has the ability to not only enhance immune function, but also to inhibit tutor growth. 

Dr Nanba and his colleagues found that Maitake mushroom promotes the action of not only macrophages, the leukocytes that are responsible for indentifying and engulfing foreign cells in the body, but also a variety of other immune-related calls, such as natural killer (NK) cells, cytotoxic T-cells, and killer cells, which can attack tumor cells. T-cells are also responsible for body's defence against tumor metastases.

Through extensive experimental studies, researchers have found the beneficial activities of Maitake mushroom to include protecting healthy cells from becoming cancerous, helping to prevent metastasis of cancer, inhibiting the growth of tutors, and lessening the side effects of chemotherapy agents. 

Ganoderma lucidum 

Also known as Reishi mushroom, it has been used to treat liver disorders, hypertension and arthritis for thousands of years. In cancer treatment, it is being used to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, enhance survival rate, reduce likelihood of metastasis, improve quality of life and help prevent the recurrence of cancer. 

Shiitake 

For centuries, Asians have been using Shiitake to treat the bad colds, flu, blood circulation, gastrointestinal discomfort and fatigue. Its’ polysaccharide Lentinan and LEM has many features to enhance immunity, including the activation of natural killer cells and increased production Y- interferon. Studied has confirmed that LEM to improve chronic illness, chronic stress, or aging medical practices impaired immune system. The study also found that the use of mushroom polysaccharides prior radiation therapy treatment, can effectively prevent decreasing in white blood cell count.

This mushroom contains all eight essential amino acids in better proportions than soy beans, meat, milk or eggs, not to mention a good blend of vitamins and minerals including vitamins A, B, B12, C, D and Niacin. 

Polysaccharides

Polysaccharides is a long chain molecule, usually found in certain mushrooms, scientists have found that polysaccharides have good effect on cancer. Identified by the studies, these mushrooms polysaccharides can activate immune cells, inhibit tumor growth. Mushroom contains polysaccharide by increasing natural killer cell (NK) cells and interferon (interferon) and interleukins (interleukin) to prevent and destroy cancer cells and viruses. 

Interferons and Interleukin

Interferons are a group of proteins in human cells generated when exposed to virus attacks. When the body is infected, interferon was created to serve as a first line of Defense of the immune system, and inhibit the growth and replication of the virus. Interferon was found to have anti-tumor effects. 

Interleukin is a group of protein responsible for cells transmit chemical information, launching a specific immune response of white blood cells to destroy foreign substances attack, while promoting the proliferation of immune cells, and immune system function.

Does Food Safety Matters?

Food safety is about handling, storing and preparing food to prevent infection and help to make sure that our food keeps enough nutrients for us to have a healthy diet. Unsafe food and water means that it has been exposed to dirt and germs, or may even be rotten, which can cause infections or diseases such as diarrhoea, meningitis, etc.

These diseases can make people very sick or even be life threatening. When people are sick, they are weak and would have difficulty working or concentrating at school. Some of these infections also make it difficult for our bodies to absorb the nutrients they need to get healthy. Unsafe or stale foods also deteriorate and be of poor quality, which means they lose nutrients and so we do not get enough of what we need for a healthy diet. So unsafe food can also lead to poor nutrition.

As a consumer, how often do we really taking food safety in serious matter? 

For example, you are shopping in the mall, and you feel like getting a sandwich from the shop selling it, you firstly got attracted by the packaging, and the presentation of the sandwish, and you grab it, pay at the cashier, and munch on it while continue your shopping in the mall.
